Hyderabad FC’s Head Coach Manolo Marquez to Depart at End of Season

Hyderabad FC has announced that its head coach, Manolo Marquez, will be leaving his position at the end of the current season. Marquez will remain in charge of the team for the upcoming Super Cup and the AFC Cup playoff match against ATK Mohun Bagan.

Club Owner Expresses Gratitude

Hyderabad FC’s owner, Varun Tripuraneni, expressed his gratitude to Marquez, saying, “It’s been three incredible seasons for the club under Manolo. On behalf of everyone at HFC, I would like to thank Manolo for his immense contribution, putting the club amongst the best in the League.”

Respectful Departure

Tripuraneni further revealed that Marquez had informed the club of his decision in February to give them ample time to find a suitable replacement. “This shows the respect he has towards the club,” Tripuraneni added.

Marquez’s Successes at Hyderabad FC

Since joining Hyderabad in August 2020, Marquez has been instrumental in helping the team achieve great success. Under his leadership, Hyderabad FC won their maiden Indian Super League title in the 2021-22 season, beating Kerala Blasters in the final. The team consistently showed progress, finishing fifth in 2020-21, second in 2021-22, and second again in the 2022-23 season.

Improving Indian Players

Marquez is also credited with improving the level of Indian players in the club, with players like Asish Rai, Chinglensana Singh, Akash Mishra, and Yasir Mohammad making significant impressions under his reign.

Marquez’s Parting Words

Speaking of his decision to leave, Marquez said, “It has been three wonderful and extraordinary seasons with Hyderabad, and for that, I thank everyone at the club. However, the season is not over yet. We have a very important competition, the Super Cup, where we want to compete and win.”

Hyderabad FC is already in the process of finalizing a replacement for Marquez. Reports suggest that Marquez is set to join another ISL side, FC Goa, as their new head coach.
